Rio Rally 2025 delivered everything we hoped for and more. Adaptive cyclists, handcyclists, bike riders, families, volunteers, and community partners came together for a powerful morning celebrating cycling for all abilities along the Rio Grande.
We kicked things off at Alameda Open Space on the southeast side of the Alameda Bridge in Albuquerque. The energy at the start line was electric. Riders rolled out onto the Paseo del Bosque Trail with smiles, high fives, and a shared sense of purpose.
The paved path along the river provided the perfect setting. With minimal elevation change and flexible turnaround points, riders chose distances that matched their goals. Some enjoyed shorter out and back spins, while many completed the full 16 mile round trip to Bike In Coffee at Old Town Farm.
Watching adaptive riders cruise confidently along the cottonwood lined trail was a highlight of the day. Handcyclists powered forward with determination. Families rode side by side. New friendships formed mile by mile. When we arrived at Bike In Coffee, the shady oasis gave everyone a chance to refuel, relax, and celebrate the journey south.
The ride back north felt just as strong. There is something special about moving together as a group, especially when the mission is inclusion.
Back at Alameda Open Space, the celebration continued. Riders swapped stories, volunteers shared laughs, and we offered demos of cutting edge adaptive cycling technology that continues to expand what is possible on trails across New Mexico.
Rio Rally is more than a ride. It is a reminder that outdoor recreation belongs to everyone. Thank you to every rider, volunteer, supporter, and partner who made Rio Rally 2025 such an incredible success. We are already looking forward to next year.
