Equine Assisted Therapeutic Riding Program
  

    Now we are acquiring adaptive equipment to make the therapeutic riding program accessible to wheelchair users. Pictures of the equipment are on the next page. Funding is still needed to purchase the materials and to pay  training costs for North Americas Riding for the Handicapped Association center accreditation/instructor certification program. The sense of independence and acceptance found through these activities with the horse benefits all. “Horseback riding is my life, it always comes first with me. It lets me go places I cant go in my wheelchair. I cant make my legs do what I want when I am  on the ground, but when I am on my horse I can use my arms and legs to do amazing things”  this quote is from a rider that has seen tremendous benefits from therapeutic riding over the last 26 years. For a child in a wheelchair that has never left the beaten path much of the outdoors is uncharted territory. To see a child sit on a horse for the first time and ride through a green forest eyes wide and a face full of pride is an amazing dream come true. Global Opportunities Unlimited has set a framework down to start a much needed therapeutic riding program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A very generous couple has agreed to lets us use their outstanding horse facility equipped with, an indoor/outdoor arena, heated/cooled stalls, and access to beautiful riding trails.
