Josh age 22, was
injured during his service in the Iraq war causing him to be paralyzed
from the waist down. He narrowly escaped death with a great attitude and
we honor him for this.
Josh grew up spending much of his free time hunting and fishing.
After being injured he searched for resources that could help him learn
how to adapt and enjoy his hobbies again. After completing the process
of adapting living arrangements it was time to pursue his love for
hunting.
One of his goals as a hunter was to go antelope hunting. He contacted
Dustin and arranged to meet in person and discuss the logistics of the
hunt. We then coordinated our efforts with our friends from Frontier
Outfitting and had a hunt set up to take place in Northern New Mexico
August 2008.
The rolling grass hills at the base of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains
make a beautiful setting
for the hunt.
Opening morning was perfect! The grass was wet with dew from the cool
night and the nice antelope buck we had been watching was feeding in the
pasture. We had to make a quick decision to set Josh up in a position he
could shoot from. The older bucks have seen hunters before and can
disappear in an instant. Josh steadied himself and made a great 490 yard
shot!
Back at camp everyone talked through the evening about the great
success that day. We stayed for another day just to relax and let our
eyes scan the gorgeous country. We left, with big smiles and the
satisfaction of being able to enjoy such a blessed experience.
